Sunflower with the Blues – Jacki Kellum Watercolor

Today, I am teaching how to paint a sunflower in watercolor with no black or white. I shade in color by moving from yellow [as the lightest color] toward purple [the darkest color]. To paint the petals of the sunflower, I use the following colors, moving incrementally for Cadmium Yellow Light to Cadmium Orange:

Cadmium Yellow Light
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Cadmium Orange

I add Cadmium Yellow Dark between Cadmium Yellow Medium and Cadmium Orange, but that color can be mixed with Cadmium Yellow Medium and Cadmium Orange.
