One of my goals for 2021 is to conquer pattern making, and I hope to share a few tips along the way.

Today, I’ll show you how I used Photoshop to created the above background of yellow leaves from the following repeatable tile block:
Step 1: Save the above image on your computer.

Step 2: Open the tile in Photoshop.

Step 3: On the Upper Toolbar, Click on the tab that says “Edit.” THEN, scroll down the Edit menu and click on the tab that says “Define Pattern.”

Step 4: Create an entirely different document by placing the size of the document and afterwards by clicking the word that says “Create.” My document size:
- 3000 pixels wide
- 2000 pixels high
- 300 dpi

Step 5: On the Upper Toolbar, Click on the tab that says “Edit.” THEN, scroll down the Edit menu and click on the tab that says “Fill.”

Step 6: From the Dialogue Menu Arrow Click Down and Click on the Pattern Option.

Step 7: Scroll Through Your Pattern Tiles Until You Find the One for This Document and then, Click OK.

I used the duo versions of the font Amigirl to create the above poster.
