Facebook reminded me that 3 years ago today, I started my new year with a determination to draw something every day. I plan to do that again this year. Ironically, at a New Year’s Eve party last night, a young artist showed me his recent drawings, and he told me he had vowed to draw everyday. I challenge the world to draw everyday with us.

I love this photo. This young man goes to my church. Something about this photo whispers, “hope.” Best of all, neither of us knew we were being photographed. This is a slice of a real moment in time.

It is not uncommon for me to launch new challenges on New Year’s Day. I see New Year’s Day as a time to wipe the slate clean and begin again.
