For too many reasons to name, Children’s Literature is my favorite genre to read and study. While Tomie de Paola is not my favorite Picture Book Creator, he is the best I know to study to learn to turn memories into picture books. Because de Paola is both a prolific writer and an illustrator, he offers the world a vast body of work to study, and at least until Christmas, we’ll look at the books created by Tomie de Paola as a teaching tool.
Tuesdays with Tomie begins on September 9, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, and it is part of Jacki Kellum’s Free Breakfast Club Opportunities for the Community. The Free Program for Mondays is Memoir Mondays, and it is a program to help people begin the effort to recall and record episodes from their pasts:
On Tuesdays, we’ll begin exploring ways to turn our memories into picture books.
Why Is Jacki Kellum’s Breakfast Club Free?
I take the notion seriously that to whom much is given, much is expected. While I will be teaching classes that will require a tuition payment, Breakfast Club is my way to give back to the community. It is my tithe.
New but Old Push Plate – While I watched my carpenter install my new door sign and Push Plate today, I thought that this plate needs to be the motto of Jacki Kellum Studios — Push!
Here I am — “pushing” 76, and I’m pushing myself to start a new business, but I am also asking people around me to push themselves to keep learning and keep growing. Remember: When a Tree Quits Growing, It Dies. Same for People. Push! If I am asking people to Keep Pushing, They Deserve a Free Nudge.
