Sun Sugar Tomato

Today, I was moving some of my plants out to my covered porch, and I noticed that my Sun Gold Tomato Plants are in bloom. It only seemed appropriate that I spend a moment to sing the song of my earliest-producing tomato plant,

I am growing my tomatoes inside until after the frost.
I live in Northwest Mississippi, and my last frost date should be about April 7, but in this area, spring planting dates are a gamble.
I ordered my SunSugar tomatoes as 4″ pots from Bonnie Plants, and within a week, the starter plants were blooming. I bought several other varieties at the same time, and compared to the other varieties, the SunSugar plants seemed a bit scrawny. For that reason, I was surprised to see that the little SunSugars were the first to bloom.
Today, [March 6], I transplanted the blooming plants into large containers. One container is a 1-gallon pot. The other is more like a 2-gallon pot. I plan to add a teepee to the 2-gallon pot and make that plant the central part of the following children’s garden:

The SunSugar Tomato will grow inside the teepee, but other plants will share the same support.
SunSugar Tomatoes are light orange, and blue and orange are complementary colors. I’ll also grow Burpee’s Heavenly Blue Morning Glories on the same support,

Marigolds surround the teepee, and strawberries are in front of the strawberries. This year, I am planting Chandler Strawberries in front of the teepee and the marigolds. Chanler Strawberries produce fruit in June.
