Jacki Kellum Loose and Brilliant Watercolor Painting
Most people associate me with my loose and brilliant watercolors and that is what most of my adult students think they want me to teach them. I can eventually do that, but there are several bits of knowledge and technical training they need before they can successfully create loose and brilliant watercolors.
Loose Watercolor Painting is difficult because the water and watercolor paints have minds of their own and controlling each of these is a tough job.
Painting with Brilliant Color Is a Challenge, too. Color Brilliance demands that the student has a full grasp of color theory. He must know which colors he can mix to create which effect.
If a student begins with Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils before he takes on watercolor, he will be able to focus on one discipline at a time.

In watercolor painting, I paint with full-spectrum colors, and I struggle to prevent the colors from becoming muddy from mixing in unfortunate ways.
What Is a Full Spectrum Color?
Full Spectrum Colors have no browns, whites, grays, or blacks mixed with the pure pigment.
Working with Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils allows the student to learn which colors can mix with others without creating mud. Because colored pencils do not run wildly, control of colored pencils is much easier than trying to control water
I start my colored pencil students with full-spectrum pencils, and the following is a list of the full spectrum yellows in the set of 150 Prismacolor Pure Spectrum Yellows:
