I finally did it! I finally bought a Mr. Buddy Heater.  The Ice Storm of 2026 made me do it!

I held out as long as I could. I made emergency candles and a couple of clay pot heaters.

The clay pot heaters helped a bit the first two nights without heat, but they were of little help the night the temperature dipped to 14 degrees. That night, I decided to order a Mr, Buddy.

I doubt if we have another bad ice storm this year, but my new pledge is to be prepared for the next power outage–whenever it might come:

I chose the small portable heater–the one that can heat a room up to 250 square feet. During the power out, I lived in my bedroom/bath combo. With the doors shut, this little guy should be fine.

I will use the 16 ounce propane heaters, and with that set up, My Buddy is fine for use inside.

One thing I like about the Mr.  Buddy is that you can cook on it and boil water, too. I can’t wait to cook my favorite all beef hot dogs on my Mr. Buddy:
