Just in time for Mother’s Day, Jacki Kellum is opening Cottage Stitchery at Jacki Kellum Studios in the old, historic district of Water Valley, Mississippi, at 32 South Main Street.

Jacki often tells stories about her own grandmother who greatly influenced her life as an artist. When she was a tiny child, Jacki would sit next to her grandmother as she pieced quilts, and she would make pictures from the scraps of fabric cast aside. By the time she had entered school, Jacki and her grandmother would walk to town on Saturdays, and she would select her embroidery project for the week ahead.

Learning to sew was important, the walk to town was important, but most important were the hours that the young, aspiring artist was allowed to spend with her grandmother–just chatting & sewing.

In honor of her own grandmother and mother, Jacki Kellum is offering a special group of sewing, quilting, & embroidery classes for Mothers or Grandmothers and their Children — Buy 1 Get 1 Free.

On or near Mother’s Day, Jacki and her sewing students will celebrate with a Mother’s Day Tea.
