When I was a child, I taught myself to play ukulele, and by the time I was 12, talso wanted to learn to play guitar. I lived in a small, rural town, and the Western Auto Store had the only guitar for sale in town. Everyday after school, I would walk to the Western Auto and try to learn to play that guitar. Finally on Christmas Eve, my grandfather walked into the house, cradling my precious new instrument in his arms. After that. I sang unprofessionally with two folk groups–one in high school and one in college. I am no classical guitarist. Rather, I taught myself these things to accompany myself and others for campfire singing and for other group singing.
I am happy that I am able to do that once again.
Fortunately, to play accompaniments, a player only needs to learn to play a few chords. I can only begin to imagine how very many songs can be played with a 4 chord progression.
