What IS the 28 Day Picture Book Challenge? #PBChallenge

It’s Official! My Debut Picture Book The Donkey’s Song Has a Birth Day Soon. After stretching and yawning and rolling around for years, my Donkey will finally be born on October 11, 2022. And even though it has not even been printed yet, The Donkey’s Song has climbed to the top of one of Amazon’s Best Lists.

Yesterday, Donkey was ahead of the ever-popular Berenstain Bears.

Today, The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving has dipped to #5 and here is how Donkey ranks today:

Donkey’s Song is ahead of a book by the New York Times bestseller Rick Warren, and his book was released to the public 2 days ago.

I admit it! Trying to figure out the ranking on Amazon is a slippery slope. I am thankful that my Donkey is basking in the starlight today. I’ll add that to one of the miracles that have been part of his journey, And speaking of miracles and thankfulness, I’ll be launching my 28 Day #PBChallenge on September 16, 2022. The last day of that challenge will be October 11, and we’ll have a big Twitter party that night. It’s going to be fun, and I can almost guarantee that everyone will learn something about writing a picture book and about getting that book into print. The 28 Day #PBChallenge is FREE! It is my gift back.

Granted, there are several social media events for Picture Book authors, but this event will be different. This event is not about generating new ideas for prospective picture books. It is about FINISHING one idea and getting it ready to submit. It is also about understanding the publishing industry. Don’t get me wrong. I love coming up with new ideas, but unless you finish writing some of your ideas, they are of little value. This event is designed to help you with the rest of the process, too.

“You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford

Getting a book published is a complex process. Writing the picture book is only a tiny part of getting a picture book published. While I am new at getting myself published, I have been a closet picture book writer for years, and I have learned many things the hard way along my journey. For 28 days I’ll share at least one post every day, sharing some of what I have learned about writing picture books.

What Is A Challenge?

A Challenge Is A Contest. The  #PBChallenge Is A Contest with Yourself!

On Day 1 of the #PBChallenge, you will brush your teeth, splash some water on your face, and you will begin your march toward Changing Your Dreams into Realities.

#PBChallenge is about Getting Real.

It is the time to quit toying with the idea of getting a book published.

You will need to be ready to open your mind about some new possibilities.

You will need to open your heart, and more than that,

You will need to open wide and conquer your old self!

#PBChallenge is about Being Better than Yourself.
