I have launched a program at Jacki Kellum Studios that focuses on combining drawing on paper as a process to teach sew-drawing on fabric. I start each student where they are. If the student has never drawn or sewn, I start them as total beginners, and I have several students starting at that point. I also have more advanced students who are ready to fast-track into sew=drawing.
