Blue Earth Soft Pastels cost about half of what other professional soft pastels cost.

 

There are both smaller and larger sets of Blue Earth Pastels than the Nomad Set, but it seems to me that the Nomad Set  of 56 has an adequate number of colors for people to get started creating pastel painting.

One of the main secrets of painting in pastels is understanding that colors can  be lightened by adding white to the primary hue.  Likewise, pastel colors can be darkened by adding black.

Keep in mind that in oil and acrylic painting, the painter mixes and mooshes his colors around to achieve the color he wants. Pastel is a more direct medium – Lighting and Shading are achieved by applying colors and letting them stand–with very little mooshing and blending with your fingers, In pastel painting, a color laid is a color played. For that reason, a pastelist nees a palette with numerous stidks of color.

The Nomad Set of Blue Earth of Soft Pastels contains enough colors to adequately lighten and shade most scenes. It is a good starting set.
