Consider the Lily – Jacki Kellum Watercolor
Painted February 10, 2018
Almost 7 years ago, I created the above watercolor painting while I was listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing:
On that day, I had been worrying about my need to move from New Jersey. I loved living there, but I could not afford the taxes, the insurance, and my house payment. I was listening to music on YouTube, and I bumped into this song, and because I knew the scripture that the song referenced, my mind was eased:
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [l]arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:28-34
Today is the 8th Day of Christmas, and I want to remind all of us to worry less and to have more faith.
Here is another thing I like to remember that Jesus said:
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. JOHN 10;1
In the above scripture, Jesus assures us that he wants the very best for his people. He doesn’t want us to simply eek by, He wants us to live abundantly.
Do Not Worry
