When I lived in towns larger than Water Valley, one of my favorite ventures was to go to a large, cozy bookstore that sold coffee and pastries. One of my goals is to provide a bit of that experience at my new arts space: Jacki Kellum Studios & School of Arts.  A necessary ingredient for a bookshop gathering space is ambiance, and my new space is loaded with that.

A bookshop gathering space also needs Wi-Fi, and wi-fi is coming soon to my space. A bookshop gathering space also needs books, and I have tons of books [some used and some new] to both browse through and buy. The last necessary ingredients are coffee, tea, and pastries.

While I will be selling coffee and tea for $1.50 per cup [my cost]–you are free to bring your own food and drink to my space. Fortunately, the Hummingbird Bakery is only a few feet from my studio’s door, and that is where I’ll buy pastries for myself. In other words, I am not going into the restaurant business. Jacki Kellum Studios is surrounded by good restaurants. I’m just providing a free spot to drink coffee and browse.
