Yesterday, I decided to offer a special online event featuring Anne Lamott’s book about prayer, Help, Thanks, Wow.
That decision came after I shared my experience with Light in my garden and afterward when I came inside and randomly fell on the page in Lamott’s book where she talks about Light. I promise those were the first words I had read from that book.
I decided that the serendipity or the miracle of that moment warranted my launching a new event. Today is July 2 and Day 2 of that event.
The passage I am sharing today is important to me. Praying in public reminds me of the Pharisees, who were hypocrites. I’m not sure when I first learned about the Pharisees, but for a long time, I have lived in fear of focusing on cleaning the outisde of my cup while neglecting the cleaning of my cup’s inside. [Matthew 23:25-26 and Luke 11:39] I’ll talk more about this later, but for now, suffice it to say that Jesus did not like hypocrites.
