Moving Clockwise from Top Right toward Bottom Right, the Colors are:

1. Cadmium Yellow Light
2. Cadmium Orange
3. Cadmium Red Light
4. Cadmium Red Dark
4. Red Violet [Mixed from Blue and Opus]

Moving Clockwise from Top Left toward Bottom Left, the Colors are:

1. Cadmium Yellow Lemon
2. Leaf Green
3. Viridian
4. Prussian Blue
5. Blue Violet [Mixed from Blue and Opus]

A Complementary Color is any color lying directly across from another. On the above color wheel, complementary colors are connected by black lines.

When 2 complementary colors stand next to each other, they contrast and call attention to each other.

In most cases, I take great care to keep my complementary colors separated. I am a colorist, and the purity of my color is essential.

An exception to my rule is when I allow blues and oranges to mingle to create the brown centers of my Sunflowers and Black-eyed Susans.  I never use black paint. I create my blacks, browns, and grays by allowing complementary colors to mix in controlled spots.
