Salvia farinacea – Mealycup Sage – A Violet Blue Perennial to Add Accents & Filler to My Cottage Garden

What a Great Day! My friend gave me two wonderful perennials to plant now in early October for glorious color in next year’s garden. She gave me some of the blue Mealycup Salvia and the yellow Stella d’Oro plants from the following bed. I am thrilled.

Blue Violet and Golden Yellow are complementary colors, and I always plant those two colors beside each other.  But I love lavendar blue planted with reds.

I am planting more of the bachelor button and red poppies seeds for next year’s garden, too, but I am also planting some of my blue salvia with scarlet bee balm for next year.

Perhaps my very favorite color combo in my garden is pink and violet blue.

I can’t think of a color that I do not love to grow next to violet blue. I’ll look forward to next fall when my friend needs to thin her salvia again. I can’t get enough of that useful perennial.
