Prayer is important for people who hope to establish a connection to Jesus and God. In the Bible, we are told to pray without ceasing:
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thessalonians 5:16-18.
I chuckle and say that I pray without ceasing, but I rarely say the long-winded, formal prayers that the prayer-masters utter in church. Yet, every time I lose something, my first response is: “Please, God, help me find…..” And when that something turns up, by the grace of God, I utter, “Thank you,”
I guess I am a “Please-and-Thank You” Christian. I swing from emergency to emergency, but I feel that God is always there, listening. Every time I walk into my flower-covered garden, I feel the presence of God,, and song-prayers rush from my heart, and I feel that God’s arms are wrapped around me. I am comforted., and I feel connected:
At times in my life, I have experienced serious emergencies, and I ask God to help me with my plight. Two days ago, my grandchildren’s home was obliterated by a tornado, and many people have said that they will pray for them. I pray for my grandchildren. I ask God to give them strength to move forward.
In the New Testament, Jesus told His people How to Pray:
Today, on the Sixth Day of Christmas, let us review The Lord’s Prayer::
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
[d]For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Mattnew 6:9-13.
Amen.
