Is There Anything Good about Cow’s Butter? – The Health Benefits of Butter – Used in Moderation

It’s September 1, and I feel a breath of autumn–which I know is on its way. I celebrated the coming of fall by putting on my favoirite flannel shirt and making myself a big bowl of oatmeal, but then, I paused. Do I dare put just regular old cow’s butter on my oatmeal?

After all, I’ve pledged to eat a more healthy diet, and I have all kinds of healthy butters in my pantry. Why, I even have African Shea Butter and Unrefined Coconut Oil, which I had vowed to eat on EVERYTHING. But hold on–just one cotton-picking minute.

Oatmeal is NOT everything else — It is an institution — It’s right in there with Mom & Apple Pie. I can’t eat Coconut Oil on my oatmeal–at least not without a dab of cow’s butter, too.

So, with just a touch of hope, I asked Google:

“Is there anything good about Cow Butter?”

“Cow butter, or butter in general, can be a healthy part of your diet if eaten in moderation:

  • Nutrients: Butter is rich in nutrients like calcium, vitamins A, E, D, and K2, and compounds like butyrate and conjugated linoleic acid.
  • Low-carb diet: Butter can be part of a low-carb diet, which may help with weight loss.
  • Trans fat-free: Butter doesn’t contain trans fats, which are hydrogenated oils found in other foods and linked to heart disease, clogged arteries, and type 2 diabetes.
  • Better than margarine: Butter is a healthier alternative to margarine.

Grass-fed butter: Grass-fed butter may be higher in beta carotene and vitamin K2 than regular butter. Beta carotene can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and vitamin K2 helps maintain bone and heart health.

“However, butter is high in calories and saturated fat, so it should be eaten in moderation. It’s best to pair butter with other heart-healthy fats like nuts, seeds, fatty fish, avocado, and olive oil.” Google ai

Bingo! Oats Are Seeds — Butter Must be OKAY on My Oatmeal!

“Yes, oats are seeds that come from the oat grass plant, Avena sativa, which is a member of the Poaceae grass family. The oat seeds are the edible part of the plant that ends up in breakfast cereals and other dishes.”

Reminder to Myself: Butter is OK–When Eaten in Moderation.

Moderation—hmph!
