I have told the story of my relationship with my backyard birds several times. but until this time last year, I did not do much to take care of the birds that lived in my area. I suppose that I took the scripture literally that God takes care of the birds.
But last year, a terrible freeze hit, and I worried about my mockingbird. He had been my loyal bird friend since I had moved here, and I realized that with the ground covered in ice, my mockingbird’s food options were limited. It occurred to me that I might be the way that God intended to care for his birds during the freeze. After that day, I stepped up my efforts to feed my birds.
Today is the 6th Day of the Twelve Days of Christmas, and I want to share what Jesus said about How God Takes Care of His Birds:
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one [j]cubit to his [k]stature? Matthew 6: 25-27
