I have told the story of my relationship with my backyard birds several times. but until this time last year, I did not do much to take care of the birds that lived in my area. I suppose that I took the scripture literally that God takes care of the birds.

But last year, a terrible freeze hit, and I worried about my mockingbird. He had been my loyal bird friend since I had moved here, and I realized that with the ground covered in ice, my mockingbird’s food options were limited. It occurred to me that I might be the way that God intended to care for his birds during the freeze. After that day, I stepped up my efforts to feed my birds.

Today is the 6th Day of the Twelve Days of Christmas, and I want to share what Jesus said about How God Takes Care of His Birds:

Do Not Worry

²⁵ “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? ²⁶ Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? ²⁷ Which of you by worrying can add one ^[j]cubit to his ^[k]stature? Matthew 6: 25-27
