How to Use Procreate: Step 2 for Very First Beginners – Learn to Use the Pencil Brushes

Child in a T-Shirt  – Jacki Kellum Drawing in Procreate

My number one go-to pencil for Procreate is the 6B pencil, which you can find under the hood of the Sketch brushes.

At the highest intensity, the 6B pencil makes a dark mark, but if you reduce the opacity of the brush, you can create lighter marks.

You can also alter the mark’s darkness or lightness by taking advantage of this brush’s pressure sensitivity.

Just as you would in a traditional pencil drawing, you can shade with your 6B Procreate Pencil held on its side. Bottom Line: With the Procreate 6B Pencil, I can draw the way I have always drawn [with practice].

I used some other brushes when I created the Rabbit Drawing in Procreate.

Step 1: I Outlined the Rabbit with Procreate Pencil 6B

Step 2: I added some shading with Max’s Brush Sketchy Sarmento

Step 3: I washed in some of the darker areas using the wet brush: Wet Glaze

Step  4: I added sketching details with both Pencil 6B and Max’s Sketchy Sarmento
