An Autumn Pumpkin in Procreate

On November 1, I announced that I had elected to spring forward into my New Year and to list my New Year resolutions early.

My primary goal is to settle down and finally begin learning how to use Procreate. I wandered around for a few days, but today I have decided to pretend that I know nothing at all about Procreate and to submit myself 100% to Lisa Bardot’s teaching methods at Bardot Brush.

Today, I am drawing an Autumn Pumpkin, and I am following Bardot’s tutorial:

Create Canvas 3800 x 2800

Use Pencils Box Brushes

With the Sketch Pencil Draw the Outline of the Pumpkin.

Click on the Selection Tool, which is labeled 1 on the following image;

Outside of Pumpkin Drag the pencil outside of the pumpkin. The canvas will appear to be blue.

Click Invert. {Labeled 5 on the above Image] This acts sort of like a Clipping Mask. When you begin to color this selection, your marks will not go outside the line.

Select  tne Brush: Quick Scribble Fill,

Select a light, peachy orange.

Brush Size 21%

To Shade, Use Quick Scribble Soft Fill

Brush Size 60%

With a slightly darker color, shade the bottom of the pumpkin:

Deselect [Unclick the Selection Tool]

Create Line Work with Rough Paper Pencil

Darker Orange

Brush Size 30%

Add a new layer above the pumpkin layer

Repeat the Process to Create a Stem

Add More Lines

Vary Pencil Pressure from Light to Heavy to Light

Add Layer between the pumpkin and the stem

With Colored Pencil Create Vines and Leaves

With a darker color and a rough pencil, add veins
