Call for Entries to the First Ever Jacki Kellum The World Laughs in Flowers Photography Contest

Jacki Kellum is Announcing Her First Ever
The Earth Laugh in Flowers Contest

“The earth laughs in flowers.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Everyone Who Can Take Decent Photos Is Invited to Participate
This Contest Is For ANYONE – Not Just for Pros!

No Fees!

I want to emphasize that this is a contest for Everyone–you do not need to be a pro. I want to turn your photos into paintings. I’ll change them. I just want to see what you are seeing.

Check out these magnificent photos taken by ladies from my hometown. Although these people are not professional photographers, their photos are gorgeous,

This contest is for great photos of flowers. They can be weeds or even dead–this is just all about flowers.

“A weed is but an unloved flower” – Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Send me clear photos of flowers, gardens, bouquets, single stems, etc., to my email address:
jackikellum@gmail.com

Everything that I paint or draw wins a free Everything Laughs in Flowers print and a set of 5 cards and envelopes of the participant’s entry.

Of course, I’ll create a beautiful facebook notice and a notice on my website, naming each participant’s winning entry separately–showing his/her photo along with my art-interpretation.

More than one entry will win. If I paint your photograph, you win the freebies.

The photo must be the person’s original photo and not one that he/she finds on the internet or in a magazine. The photo must be copyright-free–or at least I must be given permission to paint and/or draw the entry photograph.

I paint flowers at least 3 days of every week. I simply NEED my flowers.

“Just living is not enough… one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”
Hans Christian Andersen

I am a nature freak, and I still have very strong emotional attachments to my long-deceased grandmother and her massive cottage garden that was behind her home and my grandparents’ rental properties that were next to her home. In art school,

I originally trained as an abstract expressionist, and through my painting of flowers, I am able to wield my paintbrush expressively.

I am also a colorist, and every time that I paint flowers, I am excited by the ways that pure colors mix, run, and mingle together on my paper.  Notice how the colors run together in the stems and bracts beneath the rose in my painting The Last Rose of Summer.

I am also an avid gardener, and my paintings often spring from my garden. For instance, the following is a painting of the Hardy Fireball Red Hibiscus that I grew in my New Jersey Garden.

“When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.” –  Georgia O’Keeffe
